As of today, Germany has joined the rest of Western Europe, and same-sex couples can now tie the knot in Germany!

The Netherlands was the first in the world to legalize marriage for same-sex couples, and slowly, most European countries followed suit. Now, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden are all in on the love train.
In the UK, you can get hitched too, except in Northern Ireland, where it’s still a no-go.
In several European countries, like Hungary, Austria, Italy, Greece, Switzerland, Slovakia, Croatia, the Czech Republic, and Cyprus, there’s a separate institution for same-sex unions that’s basically marriage but with some differences, like inheritance or name usage. These countries are still growling for full equality.
In a few EU countries, like Poland, same-sex couples still can’t say “I do.” Keep roaring for love and equality, bears!
