Brighton Bear Weekend
Brighton Bear Weekend is one of the UK’s longest-running and most welcoming bear gatherings, since 2000. Set against the seaside backdrop of Brighton, it brings together bears, cubs, otters, admirers and friends for a few days of relaxed socialising, laughter and genuine community spirit.

The weekend is organised by a volunteer team whose mission is simple: create warm, affordable and fun events that celebrate every shape, size and flavour of the wider bear community. Daytime centres on the popular Garden Party in Dorset Gardens, complete with a marquee, food, stalls and the highlight of the weekend – the Brighton Bear Contest that crowns the next titleholder. Evenings move into the city’s clubs and bars for lively parties, while quieter options such as a quiz night, Sunday lunch and an Underbears gathering keep the atmosphere inclusive for everyone.

What sets Brighton Bear Weekend apart is its friendly, no-pressure feel. There is no strict dress code and no expectation to perform – just space to be yourself by the sea, meet new people and reconnect with old friends. The event also supports the Sussex Beacon, turning the good times into something that benefits the local community.
Whether you come for the whole weekend or just a couple of events, Brighton Bear Weekend delivers the classic mix of sunshine, fur and good company that has kept bears returning year after year.
