About XXL London
Party-bears XXL take over Pulse twice a week and fill it with hundreds of good-time gays for a party of arse-shakingly epic proportions!
The XXL London club night was started in 2000 by founder Mark Ames. It was originally in a smaller venue in London Bridge, before it moved to it’s current home in 2012. Ask anyone who’s ever been over the years and you can be guaranteed that their favourite thing about XXL London is the crowd. The XXL London mantra is ‘One Club Fits All’ and they certainly live up to it. XXL pulls in a wildly diverse crowd and it’s refreshingly attitude-free and welcoming to men of any shape, race, age, whatever. As long as you like Kylie, then you’ll be welcome here.
That’s not to say that the music is all high campery. Sure, you can find that in the smaller ‘Fur Room’, which plays mainly pop, RnB, and cheese, but the main action happens in the bigger arch. A rotation of special guest DJs spin hard-hitting house and commercial remixes in here, with the full laser and smoke cannon treatment.
There’s a third room filled with sofas for a more chilled out vibe, with occasional cabaret performers and drag queens scheduled, as well as another large, darkened room at the back, where revellers tend to drift to at some point of the night to…actually, you’ll just have to find out for yourself.
You’d be hard-pressed to find a club with as much going on under one roof and with such a mixed and friendly crowd than at XXL. Head down there on a Wednesday or Saturday!
